It’s the last day of August which means it is time to update how my goal for the month went. I do a new goal or theme each month in order to keep me focused. You can see the list of monthly goals here. You can see my original goals for the month here.
So here is the update:
1. Birthday gifts, cake designs, and activities decided for Kaitlyn, Nathan, and Joshua.
✔️ Mostly done. Kaitlyn’s birthday has now passed. I made her a Minnie Mouse cake, her gifts were all bought and she choose going to the store and buying something that she wanted with her spending money as her activity. Nathan has decided on his cake, the activity that he wants to do and he has given me some gift options. Joshua told me the cake that he would like and I sent him back to the drawing board to think of something simpler ???? He is not sure of an activity yet, and I have bought one of his gifts already.
2. Everything arranged for the replacement of one of the large windows in our home.
✔️ Done! It will be getting replaced in October (the company is very busy right now).
3. Recreation activities planned, registered for and paid for each of the boys.
✔️ Done! My older boys are signed up for once a week gymnastics for the fall and we have shortlisted what they would like to try come winter.
4. Clothing and accessories planned for each member of the family for family pictures.
X Fail. I have been avoiding this one. Trying to coordinate outfits for 7 people that have 3 different skin tones is hard. The colours that look good on my husband don’t look so good on me. Add to that we are not fancy people and we buy many of our clothes second hand or take hand me downs and it makes it even harder. Plus, I just had a baby and clothes aren’t fitting too great right now. A word of advice? Don’t plan family pictures for just after having a baby. I would totally delay our pictures except it snows so early here we have a limited window to get them done.
5. Baby #5 blessing day set and the fabric at least cut for making the outfit.
✔️ Half done. The day is set but I didn’t get around to cutting the fabric. Now that we are done canning for a while I hope to get this one finished next week.
6. Plans for our Thanksgiving menu.
✔️ Done! This one is pretty simple since we typically have a very similar menu each year. It is just my husband and our kids for Thanksgiving so we keep it pretty simple.
7. Halloween costume ideas and a plan for making or purchasing what will be needed.
X Fail. I tried to get my kids to make up their minds about costumes but it was a no-go; they keep changing their minds! I am going to give them another few weeks then I will be imposing a deadline on them that once it has passed they can not change their minds anymore.
8. A list of Christmas gift ideas for each member of the family as well as a list of Christmas crafts and activities.
X Fail. I started to get some gift ideas from my kids but wasn’t able to get a complete list from them. I did buy one item for one of my boys though while at Costco last week (love that place for gifts!). I never got around to looking at crafts and activities but I do have a good amount pinned on my Christmas Pinterest board.
So overall, I feel like I didn’t do too badly this month. Really, it’s been quite a crazy and busy month so I am happy with how much of my goal I accomplished.
