#1 was to rework our budget. This is always a work in progress but I was able to make a few small changes. We cancelled our cable last month so February was the first month where I was able to see those savings. They equalled $12 a month which seems small, but that is $144 for the year. I also discovered that we have been over budgeting in our utilities category by about $40 a month. I have reduced it by $30 a month starting in march so that we still have some wiggle room but that will give us $360 more to work with for the year. With the price of gas as low as it is right now we have quite a reserve in our fuel category so I will be able to lower that category by about $10 starting next month as well. I continue to sell handmade items and essential oils on a very casual basis. We also have taken some steps at increasing our income which if all goes well I will share more details about in the future. We spent some time laying out a financial plan for when my husband goes on parental leave later this year. We started making these plan a year ago so we are well on our way to making sure we are financially ready for this time.
#3 was to share a review of You Need A Budget software. I wrote a review which you can read here.
How have you done with your goals for February?
