At the beginning of the month, I wrote about my goal for January and how it was focusing on inventory. Click on the link to go back and read the details on why I choose inventory and what that means. Here is the update for the month:
#1 Children: I didn’t get to update our clothing inventory yet, however, I started to compile a list of items that we will need to buy over the next year. Most of the items are for baby #5 who is on his or her way. We need baby clothes (we have absolutely none!), a bassinet and a wrap. We also need a few new cloth diapers as some bit the dust after being used on our 4th child. I registered three of our children for swimming lessons and two of them for rock climbing. My youngest son is still deciding what sport he would like to try this year and we are waiting to hear about piano lessons over the summer months.
#2 Household: We have decided to put all home improvements on hold for the time being. If we are still here come September then we will likely start looking at changing our baseboards as well as a few more of our windows. There are two exceptions to this; first is our microwave and the second is our bread machine which have both been heading towards the end of their life-span. We already have the money put aside for these if needed this year.
#3 Food: Fail! My never-ending nausea has been a major deterrent in going into our pantry and freezer. After a month of over-spending in our food category though I am determined to use up some fo the food we have in the house in February and finally get a handle on what we have.
#4 Financial: I was able to update where we stand on most of our financial investments. I still have two that I need to get an updated balance on. I was actually surprised to see that our children’s RESP had declined despite deposits over the last 6 months while one of our RRSPs had increased despite no deposits! (Our plan only allows for large deposits so we typically only contribute 2 or 3 times a year).
It’s disappointing that I wasn’t able to accomplish everything I wanted to for my goal this month. I am trying to keep things in perspective though as this literally was a month like no other with my DVT and nausea. I will finish this goal in February while I work on my next one.
How did you do with your goals this month?
