Last spring I shared a review of the Bellyfit Jacket Extender when used for covering those expanding belly’s when pregnant. I said at the time that I was excited to try the insert out once our 5th child arrived in August. I have now had a few months to use the insert and so I felt that it was time to do a review on the product when used for babywearing.
I am just going to go ahead and say it… I love this insert!
My favourite thing about this insert is that it is so versatile. In the last 3 months I have used it with three different jackets; a light one, a fleece one and a winter one. Plus, my husband has used it on one of his jackets as well. Being able to switch back and forth and between hubby and I is fantastic when we want to get out but keep our youngest comfy as well. I have also used the insert over an Ergo and a Boba Wrap so far and it has fit nicely over both. To buy a product for each individual season would have been very expensive and also created a lot of clutter. This insert saves all of that and takes up a small amount of space in our closet.
The insert is very easy to use. You simply use the zipper to attach the insert to the jacket that you want to use. If your zipper is not compatible then there is a number of adapters available. There are snaps on both sides of the extender. This allows you to customize the fit and to put it on any jacket as zippers often differ on which side has the pull tag. It also allows you to attach the warmth layer to the side that you want it on. The insert also comes with a small elastic piece that clips on to make the fit even more customizable.
The BellyFit Jacket Extender is perfect for protecting little ones from the elements. They are able to stay snug and warm without you having to put thick layers on them before they go in the carrier.
The one thing that I wish was different about the insert is I wish that it came with a waterproof hood that snapped on. In rain or heavy snow baby’s head or clothing still gets wet which can be a problem if you are going to be out for a long period of time.
Overall though if you live in a place that has high winds, cool temperatures or freezing temperatures like we get here I would highly recommend investing in a BellyFit Jacket Extender. You will not regret it!
