Today I wanted to share two Christmas books that our family has read for the first time this Christmas.
Mortier’s Christmas Manger by Karma Wilson is a fun story to read to little ones. Mortimer is looking for a new place to call home when he comes across a house that is perfect! However, there are a few current residents that he needs to remove first! One night he hears a story thought that touches his heart and changes his mind. He then set about fixing what he has done. This is a nice story that will make you smile and help you to feel the Christmas spirit. My kids really enjoyed reading this book and it will now be a Christmas staple in our home.
Little Star by Anthony DeStefano quickly became one of my children’s favourite books to read this Christmas. The book is described as follows:
Tonight a king will be born, and all the stars in heaven are competing to see who can shine the brightest for him. But when the stars see the poor family huddling in the shabby stable, they begin to think that this baby couldnt be a king after all!
That is, all the stars except the smallest, loneliest star in the sky, Little Star. He recognizes the baby Jesus as the King of kings and understands His special message of love. Read on to discover the extraordinary way Little Star serves his King on that cold, dark night.
My kids couldn’t get enough of this book and I loved how we can all relate to what little star goes through. The artwork in this book si beautiful as well.
This list of 45 Christ centred Christmas books has been a great resource for our family this year. I was able to find about 30 of them at my local library and my kids and I are really enjoying them. Also, don’t forget about this book if you are Canadian.
What are your favourite Christmas books for children?
