I am so excited to share this video with you today! I have been wanting to start documenting our family’s hikes for some time now so hopefully, this will be the first in a series of videos.
When we first moved to the prairies we had no idea about the local recreational activities available to our family. Since then though, we have slowly been exploring and venturing further away. As we have done so I have been very appreciative of those who have shared information about places to visit and various hiking trails. Everything from directions on how to get there and where to park to pictures and videos of what the trails physically look like. These reviews and tips have helped our family to plan our trips accordingly and to know what to expect. When you have young children it’s so important to know whether the stroller will work or if we need to bring the Ergo instead. We need to know if there are washrooms nearby or do we need to make a stop somewhere first. Also, if there are any sudden drops I need to make sure I am prepared for or any other safety info.
I wanted to contribute to the information already out there so that other families can enjoy what we have had the opportunity to. As well as to encourage families to get outside and explore! I also wanted to share what our experience hiking with 5 kids 9 and under is honestly like. It is not always butterflies and roses as you can see from my video today. That is ok though, that is normal and it takes time to find what works for your particular children and family.
I also wanted to share this video though because we live in such a beautiful area of the world and I wanted others to have the chance to experience it. Since we have started homeschooling we have really enjoyed google street view and looking up pictures and videos of the cities and areas which we are learning about. The virtual field trip idea is super valuable and what an amazing opportunity to see real life images of somewhere you may never get to visit in person!
I really hope that you like this video and make sure to hit the thumbs up button as well as to subscribe to my Youtube channel. Know someone who is planning a trip to Banff this year? Share the link with them!
Some notes about the video: My husband is wearing a Make My Belly Fit Jacket Extender which you can see a full review of here. You can also see my Strider bike review here and my Ergo one here. You can find information on the Red Chairs here and about Canada’s free 2017 park passes here.
Have you been to Johnson Lake? What did you think of it?
