This month I had the opportunity to try out Jamberry Nail Wraps. These nail wraps arrived on the market about 5 years ago and are an adhesive nail coating that come in a variety of colours. They are sold by the sheet with each sheet having enough wraps on them to do approximately 2 manicures and 2 pedicures with some accent nails.
I choose this super cute mint green chevron pattern because I think it is a versatile pattern and colour.
The wraps are fairly simple to put on. The detailed instructions along with a video can be found here. The gist of it though is that you prep your nails by pushing back the cuticles and then clean the nails and remove oil and dirt from them.
Next, you choose the size that fits your nail and cut a piece slightly longer than you need. You warm it up and then apply it above your cuticle and gently press it down.
Next you trim the top off and and file it down. You apply heat and pressure one more time and then voila you are done.
As you can see from the pictures above I had someone put mine on for me to make sure that I was doing it right. After seeing it once I could definitely do it again myself though.
Here is what they look like once applied:
I am super rough with my hands. I use them to eat curry, to dig in my garden, to open snaps and velcro on diapers all day, to open containers and jars and to be subject to my poor knife skills 🙂 The general claim is that they will last up to two weeks so I was very curious to see how long they would last on my finger nails.
So fast forward….
I ended up keeping them on for 9 days.
As you can see from the pictures below they had all stayed on although there were some that definitely starting to come off.
I was really impressed though when I took them off and there was no damage to my nails at all. In fact my weak and often breaking nails looked better than they usually do!
Each sheet sells for $17 and up which considering how many times you can use them makes the price pretty good. Right now Rebecca is offering a buy three sheets get one free deal on her site– love that!
While I don’t feel that they would work for two weeks at a time for me I will definitely use Jamberry again. I love the design choices and the ease in putting them on. I also received a number of compliments while wearing them and some questions about what they were. I can see myself putting them on for a special occasion like a wedding or family pictures or the even the start of summer or to chase away the winter blahs. At a price of about $5 each use you can’t go wrong.
Have you tried Jamberry Nail Wraps? How did they work for you?
